The Spider Excavator will operate spider excavators for geotechnical tasks, ensuring precise and safe execution of slope stabilisation, excavation, and foundation work. This role will also heavily involve mentoring trainee operators to excel in their roles while prioritising workplace safety and adhering to strict WHS protocols.   • Operate spider excavators to perform geotechnical and construction tasks, including slope stabilisation, excavation, mulching/clearance, drilling, and foundation work.
  • Use precision controls to execute tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Mentor and train trainee operators in the safe and efficient operation of spider excavators.
  • Provide hands-on guidance and instruction to help trainees develop their skills and knowledge.
  • Foster a positive learning environment that encourages trainee operators to excel in their roles.
  • Prioritise safety as the topmost value during all equipment operations.
  • Adhere strictly to Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) protocols to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others on-site.
  • Conduct regular equipment safety inspections and ensure compliance with safety guidelines.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills to address any challenges encountered during spider excavator operations.
  • Conduct routine maintenance, inspections and repairs to spider excavators to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to equipment usage and project progress.

  • Spider Excavator Operation Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience operating spider excavators including working on slopes in geotechnical or construction projects. Experience in slope work is essential.
  • Civils/earthworks Experience: Minimum 4 years’ experience in the civils industry on relevant projects including road construction, foundation/earth work, and infrastructure development.
  • Equipment Maintenance: You have Minimum 2 years of experience in Spider Excavator equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. You ensure the proper care, cleaning, and routine maintenance of the spider excavators under your responsibility to ensure optimal performance and minimise downtime.
  • Mentorship and Training: Previous experience in mentoring and training junior operators.
  • Flexibility and Travel: You thrive in dynamic environments and are willing to travel to different project sites across Australia. Your adaptability enables you to excel in diverse terrains, climates, and project requirements.
